Square and Cylindrical Magnets
In applications where the reed switch signals relative motion, permanent magnets are used to provide the operating magnetic field. Twelve sizes of square shaped magnets and twelve sizes of cylindrical shaped magnets are stocked. Hermetic Switch can also assist with obtaining other sizes and types if necessary.

Standard Test Coil
Hermetic Switch offers two standard test coils defined in EIA/NARM RS-421A and MIL-S-55433. Standard test coils are used to test the operating characteristics of reed switches. In order to get exact correlation when measuring Pull-in, Drop-Out, Contact Resistance and operating times, the proper Standard Coil must be used. NOTE: Different coils provide different measured values. The proper coil for each reed switch is listed on the specification chart.
